Data Mining

Data mining is the process of extracting information from patterns found in information. Online, this form of gathering information is used for a wide variety of activities that are normally related to marketing, site development, and future predictions based upon current trends and standards.

The data mining technology operates online through an Internet site scraper program that is set to enter into sites and to glean information from set patterns of information that would naturally be placed into specific formats by users. Examples of common phrasings are seen in ordinary word placements, address formats, or in credit card number strings.

Data mining is used by all types of people online today, both good and bad people. Through understanding into how many users out of a select audience are participating in a given event, the information gathering party can make educated guesses on what must happen within their industry to meet tomorrow’s unknown demands.
